The developement of sopftware for a PalmOS using free GNU tools was discussed in the fourth seminar.
There is no free graphical user interface. The project file list and compilation instructions are defiend inside Makefile. Make is a very powerful tool, it has its own kind of programminglanguage. Unfortunately it is an additional learning step.
There is no free graphical user interface for menus and dialog boxes. Actually in case of simple dialog boxes this can make the design faster. In case of elaborate user interface it is impractical though.
Before introduction of Palm SDK 4.0 the files for GNU compiler had to be adapted. Now the same source code can be used both for Code Warrior and GNU PRC- Tool. There is no need for so called callback function that is described in the textbook. Also an additioanl comiler option that enables use of SDK 4.0 must be used/added to MakeFile.
