EE-WEB Assignment 3

Program 1, 15pts.

Create a dynamic Web page that would alternate the color of the bacground among red green and blue. The same color should be used every third page reload or visit. Also during the very first visit a greeting message should be displayed inside the Web page.

The user information should be stored on the client side using the cookies technology. For the purpose of this demonstration assume that the cookie should be stored only for about one hour. You can change that after the page is graded.

Program 2, 15pts.

Install both a Java Compiler and the HTML version of the documentation on your computer. If you use solely the computer lab then get familiar with Java copliler and documentation that is installed in G:\JAVA folder as it was shown in class.

Perform a simple exercive with Java language. For your conveneince all steps are outlined with great details. Follow them closely.

Please note that this is a very simple program but this is your first exercise with a new programming language. Allow some extra time even though you are a very good programer and can write code in C or C++ fast.

The instructor will use Java2 SDK version 1.3 and compile your program with -deprecation option. To receive any credit your program must complie without any errors. You do not have to provide the printout of your program. The instructor will test it using his own set of data.

Homework Submission

Attach all source code in files with proper names and extensions (*.html, *.java, *.pl, *.php, .htaccess e.t.c.). Do not ZIP files together or include compiled files (e.g. *.class). In case of dynamic Web pages (JavaScript or CGI) or Java applets also send the complete URL (including http://) that points to a page on your Web site that demonstrates your homework.
