EE-WEB Assignment 6

Program 1, 30pts.

Write a program that can run both as an application and as an applet. The program should work as resistor color code translator.

The program GUI should have:

• Three choice components, each should list colors utilized by resistor color coding
• One text field to enter or display the resistance in Ohms

The program should do:

• It should start with 10,000 Ohm settings
• Whenever any choice box is changed a new resitance should be displayed in the text field
• Whenever the resitance in the text field is edited by user the choice boxes shoudl be set to corresponding colors

Please note that you will have to learn two new event handlers: ItemListener and TextListener. Figuring out how to use them is a part of the assignment.

• When reading from the text field get the string and check for the letter K or M at the end of it. Convert the numebr from string to double (skip the letter). In case of letter K multiuply it by 1000, in case of M - by 1000000.
• Something should be done if the resisntace entered is not a valid number with one letter at the end. Label with an error message?
• Conversionin the other direction is simple - get the first digit from the first choice box, the second digit from the second choice box and the numebr of zeros from the third choice box.

Extra Credit, 10pts.

Add the fourth choice for the resistor tolerance. Read the tolerance fromt he text field as 2%, 5%, 10% or 20%. No tolerance specified in the text field means 10%. No tolerance specified in choice means 20%
