Aleksander Malinowski's Vita

Professional

Aleksander Malinowski received his MS in electronics from the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland in 1990 and Ph.D. with highest honors in Computer Science and Engineering (also received Binford Memorial Award) from the University of Louisville, KY in 1996.

He is an Associate Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Bradley University. He is with Bradley since 1998 and enjoys both teaching and doing research at this excellent medium size private not for profit institution. Before he was visiting with University of Wyoming, and also briefly taught at the Gdansk University of Technology.

Dr. Malinowski is also a Senior Member of IEEE and an Administrative Committee Member for the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. He also a founding member of Web and Information Committee for the society. In November 2003 he received the Anthony J. Hornfeck Service Award from the Society.

Dr. Malinowski is the author of 5 journal papers, 2 book chapters, and 45 other refereed publications. The areas of his main interests are networked embedded systems, network-based control systems, network computing, real time operating systems for small embedded platforms, Web programming, computational intelligence and neural networks, autonomous mobile agents with emphasis on their navigation.

Personal

Aleksander "Olek" Malinowski was born in late 1960s in Gdansk, Poland. He is married to Dagmara and has one son, Mateus. Currently he lives in Peoria, Illinois, USA. In his spare time he takes a lot of photographs, he still loves to travel (although he does not travel too often anymore), and listens to electronic music of Vangelis (Evanghelos Odyssey Papathanassiou), Mike Oldfield, and Jean Michel Jarre. He also enjoys taking care of his son's aquarium.
