My mother, Elzbieta Malinowska, 64, died in Gdansk, Poland on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 1:30 in the morning of Central European Daylight Time. She was a medical doctor, an active ophtalmologist who was still receiving patinets until just a few months before she died. Always selfless, always there for her patinets, and at home for her family and closest friends. She had two passions: ophtalmology and travels. She was an active member of Gdansk District of Polska Izba Lekarska (an association of Polish Medical Doctors), never fully retirted, and working part time until just two months before her death. She has traveled Europe, Norther America, Northern Africa and West Asia. Her next dreamed trip destination was China but she did not manage to get there befor her health deteriorated. In recent years she stayed in her home town and was frequently visited by her only grandson. God blessed her and us that we came back from America for a visit and were around her during the last days of her life.
